Online Marketing

Online Marketing or Internet Marketing is the process of sharing information across the globe at a cheaper cost. It is successful because of the dynamic nature of media that commits an instant responding and extracting responses faster.

Online Marketing weaves together some of the crucial features of internet that are both technical & innovative. The different ways to perform online marketing may be summarized as – search engine marketing, interactive advertising, affiliate marketing, e-mail marketing, viral marketing.

The different processes that support the online-marketing methods are surmised as follows:

Online Marketing

Search Engine Optimization, Link Exchanging, Blogging, Copy Writing, Posting Advertisements, Directory Submissions. Some more processes have come up in the recent times as – Article Submissions, Promoting Syndication Tools, Press Releases, eBook Submissions, Software Submissions etc.

Now that we see that Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a process that has a major contribution towards Search Engine Marketing (SEM). We should also know a bit about the other process that come under the SEM method(link to The SEM Method page).

Web-link exchange

Web-link exchange is a process of linking to another website with some relevancy to your content & in return get a link to any of your pages from one of their pages. This process of earning a link to your site may be further segregated into – (i) One-way linking (ii) Two-way linking (also known as reciprocal linking) (iii) Three-way linking & (iv) Four-way linking. One-way linking happens when your site is getting a link from another site without your site linking to that site. Two-way happens when you are linking to another site and they are linking to your site in return. Three-way occurs when your site earning a link from another site but you are linking to that site from one of your subsidiary sites. Four-way linking takes place when you are earning a link to your site from one of the subsidiary sites of a site owner, but you are linking his site from one of your subsidiary sites in return.

RSS feed submission

RSS feeds or the feeds associated with the Rich Site Summary of your websites can be submitted to other web directories that accept and display such links under a relevant category. It is accessible to outside commuters who are interested to copy & paste that link to a relevant location of their site in order to get the updates at your site regularly.

Article Submission

Article submission is the process of submitting links across article-directories & associated sites through the placing of content-relevant links amidst your article. You should be careful about not doing link-stuffing within your article. Search engines usually think it normal to refer to relevant web-pages, but at the same time their crawlers have the ability to differentiate between a good reference & link-stuffing. You should be linking to any site whose domain should be registered under a rightful authority & one that has different categories of articles. You are allowed to place a link within the body of your content & you may also choose to place another within the author-bio. The links that you get from this article page would have a page-rank=0, since it is just a newly created page.

Directory Submission

Pretty many web-directories are available online, which are meant to store any link to an external site. Hence, you are allowed to place your link across such directories – some of which come free to you, some allow links in return of a fee & some would allow reciprocal linking. You may choose a category for submitting your links under these directories or may even get an option to create a new category. But you should also remember that creating a new category would offer a page-rank=0 for that link, while putting your link in an existing category may hold an existing page-rank.

This article is very nicely compiled…..but there are couple of things….1) whats the best way of getting one way links 2) for the first time i have heard four way link exchange….can you please show an example for this.

Another point that I want to ask is suppose I get one review from quality technical blogger for a financial website…will getting such kind of link be harmful for my site, because you mentioned “Web-link exchange is a process of linking to another website with some relevancy to your content ” And certainly content of the technical blog by no means can be relevant with my site.

But overall your article is fantastic.

Well..I’m too sure that earning a link from an irrelevant site won’t do any harm to your site even if the former is a poker site n too distant from the theme of your content…this is becoz you can’t really keep a check on the growing number of backlinks for your site…even though you may check the backlinks regularly :)
